We all need a bit of salt in our diet but too much can be bad for our health. So what better way to regulate the amount of salt we consume than by using herb salts. These are salts that have been mixed with dried herbs. The flavour you get from the herbs reduces the need for salt and therefore the salt content in your seasoning.
And they are so easy to make. Simply mix your herbs with good quality course salt (1 1/2 cup salt to 1/2 cup herbs) and pulse in a blender to a fine consistency. Spread the mixture on a shallow baking tray and leave to air dry for 2 hours. Transfer to a glass jar and close the lid.
I recently made wild garlic salt which smells incredible!
