Description
Sewing Course: the Eco Experience
Tallis has teamed up with Caroline Miles to offer this 10 week Eco-Sewing Course. Running from 10-12hr each week in central Nyon, learn how to revamp, mend, upcycle and re-style your tired or ill-fitting garments into useful items.
In a world of mass consumption, quantity over quality, fast-fashion, next season trends, excessive packaging waste and plastic, we need to act and do our bit for the planet. At the same time as keeping it fun!
********
At the same time as acquiring eco-friendly skills, develop your creative side and learn something new.
You will:
- Learn the basics of sewing
- How to use a sewing machine
- How to use an overlock machine
- Hand-stitching
- Basic repairs (holes, tears, buttons, zips)
- Recognise different fabrics and how to work them********
Bring in clothing that you no longer wear or which needs mending, for example, t-shirts, dresses or jeans. Let’s fix them up, restyle them or alter them completely!
For a zero-waste concept, we will also make our own reusable flannels and make-up removal face pads.
********
All sewing supplies and fabrics are included. Participants take home all projects created on the sewing course.
Price for course: 800CHF per participant (due to Covid-19, we have reduced the number of students to guarantee more spacing between them).
