Sewing Workshop 13-15 July
Teens Summer Sewing Workshop: the Eco Experience
Tallis has teamed up with Caroline Miles to offer this three-day Eco-Workshop for 14/15 years+ teenaged boys and girls. Running from 9-13hr daily at our lakeside atelier in Geneva, learn how to revamp, mend, upcycle and re-style your tired or ill-fitting garments into useful items.
In a world of mass consumption, quantity over quality, fast-fashion, next season trends, excessive packaging waste and plastic, we need to act and do our bit for the planet. At the same time as keeping it fun!
At the same time as acquiring eco-friendly skills, develop your creative side and learn something new.
- Learn the basics of sewing
- How to use a sewing machine
- How to use an overlock machine
- Basic repairs (holes, tears, buttons, zips)
- Recognise different fabrics and how to work them
Bring in clothing that you no longer wear or which needs mending, for example, t-shirts, dresses or jeans. Let’s fix them up, restyle them or alter them completely! You could even bring in one of your dad’s shirts and turn it into a dress! (Make sure your dad doesn’t need it anymore!). Or for the boys, we could combine two different colour shirts.
For a zero-waste concept, we will also make our own reusable flannels and make-up removal face pads.
All sewing supplies and fabrics are included. Students take home all projects created in the sewing workshop.
Price for workshop: 400CHF per student (due to Covid-19, we have reduced the number of students to guaranty more spacing between them).
Includes free access to the Tallis Eco Wardrobe Online Guide.
Dates: 13-15 July, 9-13hr daily.
Location: Tallis Atelier, Rue Docteur-Alfred-Vincent 10, 1201 Geneva
(5 minutes walk from Cornavin station).
For an alternative date, consider our other sewing workshop on 20-22 July.
